FED:No Xmas penalties for Vic, SA workers

Workers in Victoria and South Australia will be the only ones in the country to miss
out on penalty rates for working Christmas Day .. while other states have declared it
a public holiday and workers will receive penalty rates.

Unions have applied to Fair Work Australia to allow penalty rates in states where Christmas
Day isn't a public holiday .. but Fair Work says it isn't a prevailing standard in a number
of modern awards.

Meanwhile Australian Greens MP ADAM BANDT has called on the government to ensure a
common standard across the nation .. regardless of what day Christmas falls on.
